Ronald “Rusty” Clarence Dunbar, age 80, a resident of Phillips, WI, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 11, 2026. He was born May 12, 1945, in Emery, WI, to parents Frank and Ida Dunbar. Rusty married the love of his life Bonnie Klein on May 27, 1967.
Rusty accomplished many things in his life! He worked as a truck driver, welder, fabricator, cook, and he was a business owner. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. His true passion was his family and everything he did for and with them.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law: Pat Dunbar; brother-in-law: Ted Metcalfe; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Donald and Evelyn Klein. He is survived by his wife: Bonnie; children: Nancy (Max) Thompson, Troy (Nicole Foytik) Dunbar; grandchildren: Ryan Thompson, Mandy Thompson, Jake (Cera) Dunbar, Joe Dunbar, Trina Dunbar; siblings: Ivy (Roll) Weister, Frank Dunbar, Judy Metcalfe, Donna (Leo) Wenzel; brother in law: Charles (Dori) Klein; many nieces and nephews; his faithful companion of 10 years Gus.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service. A reception will follow services.
