Russell Landt Jr passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2026 with his family at his side. Russ was born February 21, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois; the first of four children to Russell and Dorothy Landt. After graduating from Grant High School in 1958, Russ enlisted in the Air Force and spent 3 years stationed in Germany. He returned to Illinois once he was discharged and met the love of his life, Sandra Gorr, at the local tavern in 1963.
They were married within a year of their first date and welcomed two wonderful daughters, Vicki and Tracy. After starting their family in Antioch, IL, Russ and Sandy moved to northern Wisconsin. They were avid snowmobilers and spent many vacations in Boulder Junction before deciding to make the Northwoods their permanent home. They lived on Sparkling Lake for 10 years before moving closer to town. During that time Russ embraced the outdoor lifestyle, spending countless hours fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and riding around on his pontoon boat. He was also active on the golf course and made the 300 board during his bowling days at Island City Lanes.
Russ was known around town from working as a realtor, first for Williams Reality and later for Coldwell Banker. He was easily recognizable by his head of white hair and cruising around in his old red truck. In their later years Russ and Sandy enjoyed their winters in Fort Pierce, Florida at Golden Ponds. They both volunteered at the Sunrise Theatre and made countless friends. Russ enjoyed working in his wood shop, especially making the game Jokers and Pegs. All of his family members have the homemade game to remember him by.
But above all, Russ loved his family. He loved being a husband to his beloved wife of 62 years, being a father of 2, grandfather of 4, and great grandfather of one. Russ was proceeded in death by his parents Russell and Dorothy Landt and his brother Joe Landt. He is survived by his wife Sandra, daughters Vicki (Rob) Froh of Horicon, WI, and Tracy (Dan) Sosnoski of Arbor Vitae; grandchildren Kayla Froh, Zachary (Stephanie) Froh, Heather Sosnoski and Jay Sosnoski; great-granddaughter Myla Froh; brother Bill (Barb) Landt of Fellsmere, FL, sister Sharon Palmer (Arbor Vitae) along with countless nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Upon his wishes, cremation took place and private family services will be held.
The family wants to express sincere thanks to all the caring staff at Marshfield Medical Center (Minocqua), Compassus home hospice, and Nimsgern Funeral and Cremation Services.
