Shirley Brier, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, with her daughter, Laura, by her side. She was born October 8, 1927, in Aurora, IL, to parents Lawrence F. and Laura Dado.
She met Willard Brier through church writing to men in the military. They wed in 1946. They lived in Naperville, IL, but then moved to Yorkville next to her parents’ farm. After Yorkville, Shirley moved to Oswego, Il. Later she moved to Woodruff, WI, with her daughter and son-in-law and shared a home.
Shirley enjoyed life! She loved to entertain a lot in her younger years. She loved to visit friends and go dancing. While living in WI, she liked the weekly lakeside fish fries, flea markets and thrift stores. She always loved long wheelchair walks with Kyle, shopping with Hayley, and Goodwill with Briana Kubinek.
Shirley was preceded in death by her much-loved son Steve Brier in 1973, parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter Laura and son-in-law Donald Czachor; Hayley Burdick and Kyle Pultz, her long-term caregivers who became much loved family; grandson: Mark Ivie and family; Peaches the family dog; many nieces, nephews, and other family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June18, 2025, at 1:00pm at Nimsgern Funeral Home in Woodruff, WI. A graveside service will be held on June 20, 2025, at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to a pet rescue of your choice or the Wounded Warrior Project in Shirley’s honor.
