Stanley Stratil was born in Catawba, WI to Anton and Theresa Stratil on 6-29-44. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Genevieve (Strobl), by one grandchild, Taylor Grech, and 3 Step grandchildren, Jared Klepac, Jacob Schneidewent (Emma) and Nick Schneidewent (Aimee). He is survived by one brother Tony, and sisters, Emily Swenson, and RoseMary Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by one Stepson, Scott Grech in 2017, Parents Theresa and Anton Stratil; by 4 brothers-in-law, Randy Winter, Mike Spanel, Kenny Strobl, and Dave Raleigh.
He graduated from Phillips High School in 1962 after which he attended the National School of Construction in 1963. He joined the Army on September 14th 1965 and served through September 13th 1967, where he was placed in the Engineering Unit. Due to his exemplary service, he was invited and attended the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington DC on Oct 12th 2015 Flight #22.
He worked hard for many years after his service in companies such as the Ford Motor Company, Norco Windows, TJ International, and JELD-WEN Windows in which he worked for over 38 years before his retirement in 2009.
He was a member of the Driftsplitters Snowmobile club, American Legion Post 122 of Phillips and Jump River Historical Society. He loved snowmobiling and hunting as well as traveling with his wife to different states and Canada.
The burial will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Spooner, WI with full military honors. He will be joined by his wife at a later date.
Thanks to all the friends and family members who have given their support through the years as well as the staff at Marshfield Clinic and the VA, for their encouragement, care, and support as well.
We rejoice with him as he enters his heavenly home, ceasing from these earthly labors, and laying aside the pains of this world, and reuniting with those he loves.
