Susan Cecilia Kent
August 9, 1946 – June 4, 2025
Susan Cecilia Kent, age 78, of Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin, passed away suddenly of a heart-related event on June 4, 2025. Born on August 9, 1946, in Carroll, Iowa, Susie lived a life grounded in love, laughter, and service to others.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Kent, with whom she shared 58 joyful years of marriage. Susie was a devoted mother to Christine (Brian) Kinzy, and Thomas (Valerie) Kent; a proud grandmother to Alex (Samantha) Kent, Sam Kinzy, Travis (Lexy) Kent, Jack Kent, and Matt Kinzy; and a completely smitten great-grandmother to Clara Kent. She also leaves behind her brother, John (Carol) Schroeder, sister, Linda Little, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Hertha Schroeder, and her brother, Joseph Schroeder.
She dedicated much of her professional life as a medical technician in the areas of testing and treatment where her compassion and warmth had a lasting impact on the people she served.
Rooted in her faith and overflowing with kindness, Susie lived to serve others, including volunteering with her church and the Foothills Food Bank. She never sought recognition, but her quiet acts of kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.
Susie embraced life with open arms and a full heart. She delighted in the simple pleasures—crossword puzzles, gardening, pickleball and canasta with friends, overfeeding everyone she loved, and endless card games with family.
She cherished hiking in the desert and traveling, splitting her time between her two favorite places: Two Sisters Lake, WI, where she spent childhood summers and later retired; and Scottsdale, AZ, where she enjoyed sun-filled winters and a rich social life. In both communities, she was the spark that brought people together — the beloved organizer of pickleball matches, canasta clubs, dinners, and happy hours with her trademark warmth, wit, and generous spirit.
Everyone who knew Susie loved her radiant smile, her laugh, and the way she made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. She was the heart of our family and a bright light in the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish in Elm Grove, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Immediately afterward, family and friends are invited to a luncheon and celebration of Susie’s life at Western Racquet Club in Elm Grove.
