Terrance G. Tassi

March 9, 1945 — April 9, 2019

Terrance G. Tassi, age 74 of Presque Isle, WI died on Tuesday, April 9th at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Terry was born on March 9, 1945 in Harvey, IL the son of Guido and Catherine (nee Zriny) Tassi. Terry attended and graduated from Argo Community High School and attended Southern Illinois University. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Terry married Kim Montrie on February 17, 1989.
Terry worked commercial construction in Illinois for R.T. Milord and Chicago Bridge and Iron before moving to Presque Isle, WI in 1972 where he was a Musky guide for a short time before establishing his own residential construction company, C.A.T. Construction. Not only was his priority to do quality work & build beautiful custom homes alongside his longtime construction crew, Terry also had a passion for building long lasting relationships with his clients & subcontractors.
In 1974, Terry in conjunction with the Chicagoland Muskie Hunters Chapter of Muskies Inc., created and became president of Project Illini. This conservation organization implemented an incredibly successful stocking program & set in motion muskies eventually inhabiting lakes and rivers where none had previously existed. Because of Terry’s accomplishments, there are now dozens of Muskie clubs in Illinois and anglers now enjoy exceptional Muskie fishing throughout the state.
Terry was an avid baseball fan but his favorite team was whatever team his son, Cale was on. Terry loved to watch him in any sport he participated in but was especially proud when Cale earned the position of starting pitcher at Division I UWM. He traveled all over the country following the team & rarely missed a game. From youth sports to high school and college, Terry could always be found on the sidelines, camera in hand, taking photographs of the team which he would share with the coaches & players.
Terry was also an avid fisherman & hunter and enjoyed many adventurous trips from fishing in Costa Rica to hunting Moose, Caribou, Elk, Mule Deer & Antelope in British Columbia, Quebec , Wyoming & Colorado. He loved Muskie fishing & hanging out with friends and family at his Canadian Cabin. He enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard, tending to his flowers and splitting wood. Terry also liked going to the casino and telling stories about all of his adventures. He cherished spending time with his granddaughter Tatum and loved cooking for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Kim Tassi of Presque Isle and his son Cale (Kaitlyn) Tassi of DePere, WI and by granddaughter Tatum and baby grandson due in July. He is further survived by his mother Catherine Tassi of Elwood, IL and his brother Gary (Cathy) Tassi of Custer Park, IL and nephew Gary Tassi Jr. of Custer Park, IL and by many other relatives, good friends, employees and fishing buddies.
Terry was preceded in death by his father Guido Tassi.
