Virginia E Nelson

Virginia “Gin” Ellen Nelson, age 78, a resident of Ogema, WI, passed away with family by her side on Friday, July 31, 2026, at her home. She was born February 15, 1948, in Ashland, WI, to parents Arthur and Myrtle Carlson. She attended Steven Point College and received her degree in Education. She taught Home Economics and summer school at Prentice High School.

Gin married the love of her life Gary Carl Nelson on June 13, 1970. Together they built a beautiful life. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, water skiing, and being on the water. She loved to go camping, and all animals. She was an avid reader as well. Gin was involved with so many different organizations: Honor Society, Scholarship Committee, First Lutheran of Ogema Ladies Aid and Council, FHA, Consumer Education, Health Group, and the Church Council. Above all she loved the time she got to spend with all of her family, they were her world.

Gin was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Oscar and Anna Pearson. She is survived by her husband: Gary; son: Benjamin (Dawn) Nelson; grandchildren: Justin (Morgan) Bleck, Hunter (Katie) Bleck; great grandchildren: Everly Bleck and Hudson Bleck; siblings: Lonnie (Marcia) Carlson, Dennis (Candi) Carlson; as well as numerous other family and great friends.

Visitation for Virginia will be held on Friday, August 7th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church Prentice and Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema, WI.

The family would like to thank Hope Hospice & Palliative Care nurses that assisted in taking such great care of Gin at home.
