Willard L. Bjork
January 18, 1933 – August 23, 2025
Willard L. Bjork, age 92, of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 18, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Herbert L. Bjork and Thyra V. Bjork (Carlsson), Willard lived a life rich in service, skill, and love. He graduated from Chicago Vocational School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a lifelong career as a carpenter and contractor. With remarkable craftsmanship and dedication, Willard built not only houses but also beautiful wood strip boats, each one a testament to his artistry and care.
Together with his wife, Carol, Willard also owned and operated the Ruffed Grouse Restaurant in Boulder Junction before retiring. An adventurer at heart, he enjoyed flying airplanes and sharing his life with the many dogs he adored over the years. Above all, he was devoted to his family, who were the center of his world.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Bjork (Baumann), and his three children: Denise Parris (Dean), Mark Bjork (Julie), and Kurt Bjork (Tammy). His legacy continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
● Denise’s family: Jakob Parris (Cindy) and their son, Mason Parris; Emily Kenney (Nick) and their daughter, Nora Kenney; and Abigail Parris.
● Mark’s family: Jillian Holtger (Bryan) and their children, Ellah and Finley Holtger; Cassandra Bjork; and Nicole Bjork (Travis Mills).
● Kurt’s family: Josh Bjork; Hilary McNew and her son Brayden McNew; and Jennifer Davids (Tanner) and their children Chandler, Ryker, and Bennett Davids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert L. Bjork and Thyra V. Bjork, and his grandson, Mark L. Bjork Jr.
Willard will be remembered for his love of building, his adventurous spirit, and the warmth he shared with those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A service to celebrate Willard’s life will be held at Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw, Wisconsin, on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at the Bjork residence in Boulder Junction.
