Gerald Allen Smith Sr. 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10th. He was born June 8, 1932 in Harvey, Illinois.
Jerry graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1950, where he was an outstanding football player. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. On November 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Mudryk and they were married for 67 years.
Jerry worked as a Restaurant and Bar owner before retiring from the Illinois Department of Transportation. After vacationing to the Boulder Junction area for many years, Jerry and Phyllis retired in Boulder Junction 25 years ago. In his early years Jerry played a variety of instruments in a Polka Band and during retirement enjoyed music, fishing, and playing cards.
Jerry is survived by his wife Phyllis, 3 children, Karen Bryk, Jerry Jr., and David; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Final arrangements are being handled by Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services.
There is no memorial service at this time. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
