Barbara Ann (Shipe) Jurries, born June 6, 1939, was peacefully taken
into her heavenly garden on November 14, 2020. Barbara enjoyed 81 years
in her earthly home and 52 of those years with her “everything” James
Jurries. Barbara attended Thornton High School in Harvey Illinois and
worked many years for TWA Airlines before moving to the northwoods and
starting up and enjoying decades in the gardens with family and friends
at JJ’s Acres. While the kids were young, Barbara spent many a day
volunteering her time working with the MHLT PTA, she loved sewing up
Halloween costumes for her kids, participating in the community
celebrations in Lake Tomahawk, decorating for the Holidays and cooking
fabulous meals! Known to many as “Babas” she loved to read, shop on
QVC and test her luck at the Casino. She enjoyed many years bowling, a
little bit of golf and was always up for a warm sunny boat ride on
Minocqua Lake. Barbara will be remembered best for her infectious smile
and warm spirit. Barbara is survived by her husband James Jurries of Minocqua and her children Robert (Susan) Jurries of Rhinelander and Jack (Judy) Jurries of Arbor Vitae. She is survived by her grandchildren Robert, Max, Stevie, Jonathan and
Joey of whom she unconditionally loved and adored. She is further survived by her nieces JoEllyn and Bonnie Shipe and sister in law Valarie Shipe. She enjoyed a lifetime of memories with her special friends Marcie Olson, “Dardoo”, Carol Cheever andArlene O’Connell. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents James Everett and Helen Shipe and her brother Marty Shipe. “To everything thereis a season….a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Dance on Babas, just like a “Dancing Queen”.
Private family services will be held on Sunday, November 22nd at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI. The Jurries family is planning a Celebration of Life Services for Barbara in June 2021.
